The details
Deep Review grew out of Google’s Paper Assistant Tool, which gave opt-in feedback to authors at four major computer science conferences. It splits a document into sections, gives harder sections more computing effort, reviews them in parallel and then checks the whole for consistency and facts. It accepts PDFs and plain text for now, heavier users can connect a Gemini API key, and Google says uploaded documents are not used to train its models.
Why it matters
AI is producing papers and reports faster than experts can check them. Tools like this could become a standard first pass before human review. The risk is over-trusting an automated reviewer, so human judgement stays essential.
